about
David Tong
David helped me through a very difficult phase and was more helpful as I was transitioning out of that negative phase towards a new stage in my life and for that I'm forever grateful.

My Journey
How have I gotten here, working as a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), with a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology in hand? Well, my personal and professional arc of life has led me towards this path where I find myself developing expertise in trauma, anxiety, and parenting, helping clients since 2014 to navigate through their mental health challenges, and build better connections in their relationships.
As the youngest of four siblings, I had the benefit of having a behind-the-scenes look at the ups and downs of those that went before me, and how my family shaped the person I am today. I believe our mental health is an ongoing journey where we set out on life's path, supported and formed by our connections with our family, our community, and even ourselves. As caregivers, we also have a role as guides along the way in shaping the lives of future generations.
As a fellow companion along life's mental health journey, I love working with adults, caregivers and their children face-to-face and remotely, helping them especially in the following areas:
• Trauma: past traumatic incidents, relationship conflict or abuse, grief and loss
• Anxiety: general anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, phobias
• Parenting: counselling, consultation and parent education workshops

Although I also work with other issues, these are the common reasons why people work with me. If you want to learn more about the other issues I work with, please visit my Specialties Page.

I work from an Adlerian, trauma-informed, and family systems perspective, which embraces a variety of techniques. Currently, I am accepting CVAP cases, if you are a victim or family member, or a witness of a crime. I am also a Certified Parent Facilitator, who helps caregivers of all kinds who may be experiencing difficulties managing their children, feeling disconnected from their children, or feeling worried about their well-being. I have also worked with families through Family Preservation and Reunification services.

As you work with me, you can hope to experience a better sense of peace, stronger connections with others, and a better handle on life’s stressors. With a more positive outlook, you will feel more refreshed, confident, and motivated to pursue a more satisfying, meaningful, and fulfilling life.

When I'm not working, you can find me off the beaten path cycling through dirt trails or scenic vistas, or having game nights with friends and family. The kid in me is a sci-fi and superhero fanatic, and I'm always curious about different cultures and cuisines.
