Therapy for Yourself
Even broken roads lead to beautiful places
What does therapy look like?
Going to therapy can seem like a scary experience. Sharing your struggles with a complete stranger can feel very vulnerable. What would people think, if they found out you were going? While these are very legitimate concerns, much like how you would see a doctor for your physical health, talking to a therapist is simply about addressing your mental health. Going to therapy doesn’t mean you’re “crazy.” In fact, many people go to deal with everyday problems with themselves or others. They often go because they want to start, stop, cope with, or gain some insight into something they’re dealing with. A therapist is a trained professional who is there to provide you with a safe space to talk about your problems and help you through them.
I can support you in meeting these goals in the context of a trusting and collaborative relationship.

Trauma
When most people think of trauma, they think of such major events as disaster, war, or abuse. While these are very real causes, some may find seemingly minor incidents such as bullying or a fender bender just as traumatic. While the events may be unique to each person, what is common to everyone is the overwhelming emotional distress that disrupts their everyday functioning. Trauma therapy can help you deal with or cope better with your trauma. It can also work with the root causes of your trauma in order to get back to the way you were.

Grief & loss
When you experience a significant loss, such as the death of a loved one or a relationship breakdown, grief is a normal emotional response to that loss. Over time, you hope to come to terms with your loss, and adjust and make sense of your new reality. However, when the pain of grief becomes too much, seems to last for years, or grows into something worse, like depression, grief therapy can help you cope better with your pain and move along towards healing in your grief journey.
