Trauma Therapy
The darkest night is often the bridge to the brightest tomorrow
Are you experiencing trauma?
How do you know if you’re experiencing trauma? If you find yourself emotionally overwhelmed at times, to the point where it disrupts your day-to-day functioning, you may be experiencing trauma. The effects of trauma can be immediate or appear years after a traumatic event has occurred, and are often unpredictable and beyond your control. These events can be a single incident or many events, such as a pattern of abuse. It can be as significant as war, disaster, or a major accident, or seem as inconsequential as an argument.
You may be showing these symptoms:
Emotional - excessive worrying or blame, intrusive thoughts and feelings, or increased irritability.
Physiological - nightmares or flashbacks, heightened arousal or physical aches, or an inability to focus or stay present.
Behavioural - frequently scanning for danger, increased substance use or risky behavior, or avoiding whatever reminds you of the trauma.
Discover trauma therapy

In helping you better cope with your trauma symptoms, I may employ such techniques as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Mindfulness so you can better function in your day-to-day life. In order to get rid of your trauma symptoms, however, we would need to get to the root of your trauma. In using such techniques as Trauma Incident Reduction or Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy, we can do the necessary “trauma work” to get back to your old self.
Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy
Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy (Satir Therapy) is a way of experientially revisiting the impact of your trauma by looking at what drives your current behavior, such as your emotions, beliefs, or expectations. This helps to facilitate growth and change within yourself and with your relationships. A greater awareness of your Self would empower you to better manage and transform your inner world, and interact more positively with others.
Trauma Incident Reduction Therapy
Trauma Incident Reduction (TIR) is a systematic way of relieving the negative effects of past trauma. It involves a guided viewing of memories, where you would examine the past, retrieve memories that have been hidden, and find an appropriate place for them in your life, in order to engage more effectively in the present. In TIR, you are in control of the pacing and amount of disclosure throughout the process. Because of the more involved nature of TIR, sessions could be up to 100 min (2 hrs) long.
Trauma therapy can help you have better sleep, concentrate better, cope with difficult emotions, and deal with the source of your pain so you can return to your old self.
